Rivers Edge Rainforest Retreat, situated near Malanda in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands, is your ideal base for exploring the diverse wonders of this area.

For a small town, Malanda offers a surprising diverse range of things to do. This is the centre of the Tablelands Dairy Industry. The Malanda Dairy Centre offers locally sourced foods and a historical display featuring the history of the Tableland Dairy Industry. It also offers tours of the adjoining Malanda Dairy Farmers Factory.

On the edge of town is a rainforest featuring a beautiful swimming hole fed by a large waterfall and an environmental information centre offering the volcanic history of the area. In the Malanda Township, check out the historic Malanda Hotel built from local timbers, arts and craft shops and the fully functioning 1920 Majestic Theatre with its old style canvas sling seats.

  • Cathedral Fig Tree: Situated on the circuit road around Lake Tinaroo, a must to see. Continue the drive to Lake Euramo , Mobo Creek Crater, The Chimneys, Platypus Rock Lookout and the Tinaroo Dam. (20 Mins)
  • Giant Red Cedar: Magnificent example of the "Red Gold" keenly sought after by the cedar getters a century ago. (20 Mins)

  • Waterfall Circuit: There are six waterfalls within 15km of Millaa Millaa. Zillie Falls, Millaa Millaa Falls, Ellinja Falls, Mungalli Falls, Sovita Falls and the Pepina Falls. (25 Mins)
  • Mt Hypipamee Crater & Dinner Falls: An extinct volcano blow hole 124 metres deep. Nearby Dinner Falls a must. (35 Mins)
